- We collect your location so your family can see where you are and get alerts if your day looks off.
- Only the people in your family on GotThere can see it.
- We never sell or share your location. No ads. No tracking across apps.
- Location history is deleted automatically after 1 day (free) or 30 days (Plus). With Premium, places, trips and alerts are kept 1 year and detailed GPS points 90 days.
- Pause, download, withdraw consent or delete your account anytime: Family, Privacy in the app.

What we collect, why, and for how long

Routine Check learns your normal day on your family's phones from the same location data. It does not use any extra data and does not need a separate consent.
We do not collect your contacts, messages, health data, or advertising identifier.
Legal basis (EU/UK)
We process location and motion data based on your consent, which you give on the “Share your location” screen and can withdraw anytime. We process your name, photo, phone number and account data to provide the service you asked for (contract). We keep consent records to meet our legal obligations.
Who can see your data
Only the members of the family you joined. A member marked as a “Friend” sees locations only, plus anything the organizer turns on. We never sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising, and we do not “sell” or “share” it as those words are defined in California and other US state privacy laws.
We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our instructions: Supabase (database and hosting, United States), Cloudflare (invite links), Apple (sign-in, push notifications, maps), RevenueCat (subscriptions) and an SMS provider for SOS texts. They may not use your data for their own purposes.
No ads, no tracking
GotThere has no advertising, no ad SDKs, no data brokers and no tracking across other apps or websites. We do not use cookies. Any app analytics we keep stay on your phone and contain no location or personal identifiers.
Children
Children under 13 (under 16 in the EU, UK and Switzerland) can only use GotThere after a parent or guardian agrees, in the app, to us collecting the child's location. We record that agreement. We collect only what the app needs, never show children ads, and never sell or share their data. A parent can review, download or delete a child's data, or stop sharing, anytime: on the child's phone in Family, Privacy, or by removing the child from the family. Your rights and choices
- Pause: turn off “Share my location” anytime. Your family sees “sharing paused”.
- Access and download: “Download my data” gives you your location history and profile as JSON and CSV files.
- Withdraw consent: stops sharing, with the option to delete your location history right away.
- Delete: “Delete my account and data” removes your location history and profile from our servers immediately and from backups within 30 days.
- Correct: change your name, photo and phone number in the app.
You can also email us. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and other US states) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object or restrict processing, and to appeal our decision. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. EU/UK residents may complain to their data protection authority.
Security and where your data is stored
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Access to your family's data requires your family's private key, which only your family's phones hold. Our servers are in the United States. If you are in the EU, UK or Switzerland, we transfer your data to the US under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) with our providers.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app and ask again where the law requires.
